Hindu Women’s Network's (HWN) of Cincinnati) Seva in Nursing Home
Butler County Care Facility is a skilled nursing home in one of the quiet residential areas of Hamilton, OH. It provides a multitude of programs for residents to engage in social activities and offers a wide variety of services. It is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all residents in a compassionate and professional manner.
Volunteers from HWN of Cincinnati saw a great opportunity to perform Seva at this facility. Since September 2018 they visit the facility once a month to celebrate the birthdays of the residents. They bring cake, ice-cream, cards, and balloons. They sing Happy Birthday to all residents whose birthday fall in that month. Residents enjoy the celebration as so many don’t have loved one living close by to visit. HWN Volunteers also relish quality times with residents Some residents have never met people from India and out of curiosity they ask about Indian culture. They feel loved and cared by kindness of volunteers who also love spending time with them.
If you want to participate, please register for the event and HWN will reach out to you to select a particular day for seva.
During the session, volunteers will be creating "seed bombs" featuring native seeds from our different nurseries and seed collecting days, to be used on one of our current significant Wetland projects. Volunteers will have the ability to take home native seeds for their own garden.
